Spider-Man Cancelled Movies

The Amazing Spider-Man Universe Was Abandoned

After The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony had major plans including The Amazing Spider-Man 3, a Sinister Six movie, and even an early Venom project connected to Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man universe. However, after the Sony-Marvel partnership was formed, these projects were cancelled and the franchise was rebooted with Tom Holland as Spider-Man.

Years later, Andrew Garfield unexpectedly returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home, giving fans a glimpse of what might have been.

Another interesting case was Scott Leva, who was cast as Spider-Man for a planned Cannon Films movie in the 1980s. He even appeared in Spider-Man costume for promotional photos and screen tests, but the movie was never completed and the project was eventually cancelled.

Fun Fact

Sony originally planned The Amazing Spider-Man 3, Sinister Six, and a connected Venom movie, but all were cancelled after Marvel and Sony partnered. Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man only returned years later in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Parker's Facts

01

Parker’s Fact #1

In Spider-Man (2002), when Peter catches Mary Jane’s falling lunch tray in the cafeteria, the scene was not CGI. Tobey Maguire actually caught the items on the tray after many takes.

02

Parker’s Fact #2

In the comics, Peter Parker builds his own mechanical web-shooters. However, in Spider-Man (2002), director Sam Raimi changed the concept so that Spider-Man produces organic webs naturally from his body.

03

Parker’s Fact #3

Peter Parker is a genius-level scientist. He didn’t just use web fluid—he invented the web formula, designed his own web-shooters, and created many of his gadgets himself. Spider-Man is considered one of Marvel’s smartest heroes.
